Northern Hope Gymnastics have rounded off a fantastic day of competition at our annual June McKenna Memorial Event, welcoming clubs from across the North East for a day of acrobatics, tumbling and community spirit.
This event means a great deal to our club. June was a huge part of Northern Hope — supportive, encouraging and always the loudest cheer in the room. When we lost her in 2020, we promised we would keep her memory alive through community, kindness and opportunity for young people. This weekend was a true reflection of that promise.
And this year, thanks to our club community, we were honoured to donate £2,000 to St Benedict’s Hospice in June’s memory. We hope she would be proud.

Tumbling Results
Our tumblers took over the track, bringing energy, precision and brilliant performances across all age groups. With many gymnasts competing new passes and stepping up in confidence, it was a hugely successful day for the squad.

A Weekend of Community, Inclusion and Pride
Whether it was acro or tumbling, medals or personal bests, first competitions or seasoned performers — every gymnast made us proud this weekend. The cheering, the teamwork, the nerves, the smiles and the sheer determination on display captured exactly what June loved most about this club and this sport.
Thank you to all gymnasts, families, judges, volunteers and supporters who made this weekend possible. And thank you to everyone who helped us raise funds for St Benedict’s Hospice, continuing June’s legacy of love and support for her community.
